Sam Azar is the Founder and CEO of Ascend Impact Advisors, a consulting firm committed to advancing social impact by bringing a human-centered approach to strategy, data, and AI. Previously, Sam served as the Senior Director of US Research and Measurement at Habitat for Humanity International. There, he played a pivotal role establishing this function for Habitat, shaping the direction of the organization's research and measurement initiatives across the United States.
Before his time with Habitat, Sam was the Director of National Impact for Compass Working Capital, where he helped scale an evidence-based financial coaching program nationally through a training and technical assistance model.
In earlier roles, Sam held positions including the Director of Global Strategy for United Way and Manager of Data and Strategy for United Way's US Network. At Deloitte Consulting's Strategy and Operations Practice, Sam worked with federal government clients, predominantly HUD's Office of Public and Indian Housing and the General Services Administration, and also led all of Deloitte Consulting’s pro bono work with the Capital Area Food Bank.
Sam's educational background further underscores his dedication to public service. He holds an AB in Public Policy and Philosophy from Brown University and an MPA from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
